About Me

Hello, I’m Mai Hương ^^

Nationality: Vietnam

I am a final-year PhD candidate at IRIT, University of Toulouse (expected graduation: March 2027), working on performance and energy analysis of machine learning workloads on multi-node CPU/GPU clusters.

I am currently looking for industry roles in performance engineering, benchmarking, and AI/HPC infrastructure, in Europe or Asia. My CV is here.

My academic journey

My academic journey has taken me from my homeland to South Korea and now to France. I earned my B.Eng. degree in Electronics and Telecommunications from Hanoi University of Science and Technology in 2020, where I was supervised by Dr. Lâm Hồng Thạch.
Before starting my master’s, I worked as a Radio Unit System Engineer at VACE Antenna, testing and diagnosing radio hardware in a newly established R&D team.
In 2024, I completed my M.S. degree at ANDA Lab, Soongsil University, under the guidance of Prof. Myung Sik Yoo.
Currently, I am pursuing a Ph.D. as a member of the SEPIA team at IRIT, University of Toulouse, under the supervision of Prof. Georges Da Costa and Assoc. Prof. Millian Poquet.

Know me in my works

• Performance and energy analysis, distributed ML systems, federated learning
  My current work. I built FedE-ator, an open-source framework that automates the deployment, benchmarking and telemetry collection of distributed ML training on the Grid’5000 testbed (up to 100 nodes). It measures CPU/DRAM energy (RAPL), NVIDIA GPU power (NVML), external power meters and system metrics on every node, with a strong focus on reproducible results. I use it to study how CPU frequency (DVFS), GPU clocks and power limits affect training time and energy. I’d be happy to discuss these topics if we share similar interests.

• Deep reinforcement learning, optimization modelling, edge computing
  The focus of my master’s research: energy-delay optimization in mobile edge computing federation systems. I am not deeply involved in these topics at the moment, but they remain relevant to my current work.

• Antennas, radio frequencies, wireless communications, hardware testing
  My background from my bachelor’s studies and my time at VACE Antenna. Although they are no longer my primary focus, I still enjoy keeping up with updates and discussions in these fields.
